HUNTSVILLE, Alabama--Huntsville Utilities says scam artists are continuing to target customers as well as customers with Alabama Power by phone, according to spokesman Joe Gehrdes.
The company reports that a scammer claiming to be an employee is calling customers from the number 251-744-3669, attempting to steal hundreds of dollars from them by threatening disconnection if they don't immediately pay over the phone or via pre-paid debit card.
Huntsville Utilities advises customers to ask for specific information from anyone claiming to represent the company including their name and company contacts. Call 256-535-1200 to report any suspicious contact or to verify account status.
