Received the same text and responded with my Mary Kay email address. Didn't think anything of it since I know several people by the same name in SOMD. Once I read the email, I realized it was a scam. I replied stating I was not comfortable working with a certified check and if I did so I would wait up to a month before mailing the product requested to verify validity of the check. Clearly the scam artist was less than pleased. I have since told all my MK friends and also reported it. It's a shame that people will go to this level to scam someone. I am also in the process of blocking the number from my phone.

I received a text from this number claiming to want to order Mary Kay products. They gave a name Katherine Hastings and asked for my email address. I gave it not realizing it was a scam, then when I received an email days later it sounded fishy to me. The sender claimed to be a deaf woman, requesting my address to send a certified check prior to ordering the product. I did a Google search and found it is a scam. I filed a report through the IC3. Funny it was a local number and there were no reports on it.

I received a text message from this number. The lady wanted to order Mary Kay products. She said her name was Catherine Hastings. I texted her back and told her that I do not divulge my email address and that she is more than welcome to place an order on my Mary Kay website. She's a persistent person. I have now blocked her phone number from my contacts list. I also took my cell phone number of my Mary Kay website. It's a shame that there are so many scammers out there. Now my good customers can't get in touch with me if they lose my cell phone number.
