We rec'd a call from this number and a "lady" named Diana Preston said I  needed to call her back and left a case number w/ my husband.

This guy called my cell phone, but the number showed up as blocked so I didn't pick up. Someone named Dan North left an intimidating message saying he had an "urgent financial matter" to discuss and cited a case number. He gave me this phone nubmer to call but didn't provide any additional information on my "urgent financial matter," so I figured it was something sketchy. He also had the nerve to call my parents with the same message, so whoever this is has a disturbing amount of information on me. I don't have unpaid bills, so this is not a legitimate collection agency. All signs point to some kind of scam.

Dan North had the audacity to called multiple family members, but never my son directly.  He left messages with all that the call was about an urgent legal matter. Seems like an Identity Theft scam

I would at least return the call and find out what it is about. If you have already had your identity tampered with, this could be the beginning of many calls from different collection agencies. I had my credit stolen by someone and the bill collector calling is what cued me in and let me know I needed to take action.

However, if this is a bill collector collecting on a debt, he will no doubt have all the information on you he needs. I wouldn't give any further information and I would request that he put any complaint in writing before you will deal with him. In fact, he should have already contacted you through the mail first.
