There's another cute trick the FOP tries to pull. If you tell them to send you an offer by snail mail because you have to send them a check or that you simply don't donate over the phone, they will send you a envelope with the amount of "last year's donation" written in by hand. It's a clumsy attempt to make you think that, gee, maybe you actually did give them money once, but you've since gone a little nuts and have forgotten all about it. They do this kind of thing a lot around the end of the year, perhaps depending on the general confusion that reigns during the holidays.
It's best never to answer these calls in the first place.
