Saying I owe on an account from 5 years ago and my husband paid this in May 2003!!!! They harass me all the time. We've contacted a lawyer and were told not to talk to them.

I am having the same problem, we paid an account off in 2006 and they are calling us also.

this number called this morning on my cell(how they got that, who knows?)
call was cut off before anyone talked and I called back asking who they were.  I had to ask 3 times who was calling before someone finally said (something) Financial.  I asked what it was about and they said it was for a long overdue balance.  I told her that my bank had paid that balance off in 2004 and this was bull*#@%, then hang up....By the dates of complaints it looks as if they have recently started calling people??

I have been receiving messages on my work phone and left in a married name I haven't had since 2000.  Today there was actually a person that called and spoke.  He proceeded to tell me that I owed on a Dell Computer...they tried this in about 2004 on a computer I paid off in 2001.  They are yet AGAIN trying to pull this off.  They have the last four digits of my soc# as well as my cell number.  I spoke with this guy and he mumbled the name of the company and wasn't really a jerk.  He told me that I was about the sixth person in a row that had that same story.  After hanging up but maybe 30 seconds my cell phone rings and its number!!! A very mouthy, pushy broad that was obviously more experienced than he. Do I get hold of the Iowa Attorney General or something?  I just refused to pay it last time and they more or less went away.  I was tempted to pay this time just to get them off my back...although I paid the thing off in 2001.

you have to be proactive on these things if you had a dell bill or whatever and you paid dell. but dell had already turned it over for collections then you need to make sure that dell lets the collection agency know that you had paid it. I counts against your credit and yes it is dells fault for not relaying the message to the collection agency
