Received multiple calls from this scam artist on all 3 of my phones this morning. On a land line office home phone line, received 5 calls from this number every minute starting at 11:02 am PST ending with a voice message left at 11:06 am. Then 3 calls were received on the main home land line starting at 11:07 am PST and ending with same voice message at 11:08 am. Finally, at 11:08 am the first of 4 calls were received on my cell phone ending with same threatening voice message at 11:11 am.
In all instances, the calls from this Maryland telephone number showed a caller ID as "ROSE MERRY". All 3 of the voice messages left were identical in content and the female caller identified herself as IRS agent Sandra Williams with a heavy accent that sounded Asian (Indian, Pakistani, possibly even Filipino) She then states my name and says that an arrest warrant has been issued for me and the charges are severe. She further states that if I wish to avoid arrest, I need to call them back at their special service number (the same 240-200-8385 number) or they will notify local law enforcement to come and arrest me.
OBVIOUSLY, this is a known prevalent scam since the IRS NEVER notifies tax payers by telephone of such matters and will ALWAYS communicate by mail.
I am filing a report on this number with the local FBI office since impersonating a federal officer is a federal crime.
