Just got a call from these people. They asked for me by my name from my first marriage. I have been divorced for 8 years now and have not used that name since as I was restored to my maiden name in my divorce. She said the account was opened in that name in 2010. Not possible as in 2010 I was remarried and took his name!  Either this is a debt that was not settled in my divorce (I'm not aware of any as all were paid by the sale of our house) or this is a complete scam!

I just received a call from this company a lady telling me that the phone call was being recorded for training purposes. she call me by my old married name. proceeded to tell me that I owed a phone company that used to be called Embarq or whatever $283 and 41 cents and that the creditor was trying to collect on that debt. I asked when that debt was incurred and she told me 1991. she even had the last four numbers of my social. when she told me how long ago it had been I laughed and I said you gotta be kidding me and I hung up on her. this is been over 22 years ago and I'm not even sure if I owe it or not, but even if I do you think they would have came after me before now. so they can write themselves off or F themselves off.
