(St. Lucie County, FL) --- Just received a call on our home phone 3:15 p.m., Tues., May 7, 2013. Did not answer; the caller did not leave a message, so I called the number back and was directly switched to a fella in a boiler room (could hear all the other voices in the background).
I asked him what they were calling about (did not attack him personally). He said they were "going to lower our interest rate..." and I cut in to ask if they are our mortgage holder. "No, we offer lower rates and I'd like to check the name...", he then proceeded to spell our last name and ask if that was correct. I told him I would rather not give out any information (knowing that they already have our home phone number) and asked how they had our info. He told me they got it from "the credit reporting agency" and I told him we are on the Federal DO NOT CALL list. He very nicely said he would immediately remove our number.
That better be the end of it.
