I got a call from this number the other day. The number they asked me to call had a 347 area code, which I know is for some NY cell phones. I got nervous that I actually owed them money because I do have legitimate payday loans to pay off. When I asked which company the loan was affiliated with, the woman couldn't answer me. She tried telling me that a lawyer was going to proceed with filing a case against me if I didn't pay $250 that day and another $250 at the end of the month. She said she was from Cash Partners of America, which I googled. There's no such site. I *almost* fell for it, but my gut told me not to submit any paperwork to them. I then proceeded to google the url the email came from requesting bank information, supercollections.us. That site exists, but it's totally bogus. If you try to click on any of the tabs, the page doesn't change.
When she realized I wasn't faxing anything, I got phone call after phone call from an alleged Steven Hill from the NJ Dept. of Law. I googled him--not surprisingly, no such person exists there.
I got a few more phone calls this morning and, after hanging up on them a few times, I picked up and said "I know this is a scam and I'm calling the police RIGHT NOW!" and hung up. I haven't heard back from them.
I haven't called the cops yet, but I plan on it. Antics like this need to come to a grinding halt!
