Caller said he was with U.S. Federal government, Washington, DC and I qualified for some kind of grant/money for $9,000.00. Accent was so thick "India" could not really understand. Why does our government not through these predators in jail and/or deport them

You cannot deport someone who is not in this country to begin with. Just because the caller ID shows a US number does not mean the caller is located here. For $100 they can buy an internet phone service like Magic Jack that lets them make unlimited calls to the US via the internet for a month and provides them with a US phone number that goes back them in their foreign country.

Mike in MD is right. Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan!
