    This person answered an add i posted on craigslist Said he wanted to purchase the product for his son and after coming to terms we agreed to go through Paypal and have it shipped FedEx. As i waited for the funds to clear my account a E-Mail come to me from what i thought was PayPal it said that the funds were there but would be credited to my account when i sent them a tracking # so i forwarded the tracking #. and as it said in the letter it could take 24 to 48 hrs to show up in my account.
    I waited three days and still nothing. Then another E-Mail from PayPal came that said that there was a problem with my account, that the funds could not be credited to my account because it was not a Business account and in order to release the funds the person that purchased the product would need to deposit $600.00 in to my account and that would upgrade my account.
   At this point i feel a loss and knew there was something wrong I have a Merchant account ID, and all this time the person is still communicating with me by text asking me if i had got the money yet, and telling me that the funds had been deducted from his account. When i told him about the PayPal letter he said no no that i needed to pay the $600 after all it was my account.  Bottom line i lost for the first time on craigslist to a scam.  (i must say that i have done Buss. on craigslist for over 15 years and have shipped and sold a lot of stuff and made a lot of money and this was the first time i got cough in a scam )
    I believe him to be fraudulent, and for sure the E-Mails were NOT From PayPal.
    They got me for just under $200.00

You will need to be extra cautious from now on using Craigslist especially if the alleged buyer wants to do a Paypal transaction. As you've learned, they have found ways to scam people.

Google PAYPAL SCAM or PAYPAL CRAIGSLIST SCAM and protect yourself against future losses.

Contacted me by text message in response to a Craigslist ad for a silver bracelet asking for a PayPal request sent to her/his email of: porsche15@fastmail.com.  Web search brings-up nothing for this email and at least one site indicates this is an invalid number.  Person had no questions or the like for a one-of-a-kind handmade piece of jewelry.  Particularly as phone number area code puts it ~700miles/1125km away it makes it easy to pass on this inquiry to my ad....
