This is yet another prerecorded message call from an infamous random autodialing telemarketer operating out of Michigan. (Previous research indicates that the name of this lowlife company is Liberty Management.) I've received at least 7 calls from this scammer over the last few weeks. Until this particular call today, all the calls were made on a Lucre-provided land line from Grand Rapids, Michigan with phone numbers of the same area code (616) and the same prefix (980). Today's attempt, however, was from a different area code and prefix: 231-732-2044. That number originates from Morley, Michigan and is also a land line provided by Lucre. Even though the physical location of the call changed, the scam was exactly the same as the previous calls -- a prerecorded message notifying me that the call was my "last notice" to buy a car warranty.
Prerecorded telemarketing calls that are unauthorized by the resident are a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991. The FCC is charged with enforcing this law and you can easily report scammers such as this sleazy Michigan autodialer or any other illegal telemarketing operations to the FCC online. Just go here -- https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do -- and fill out the brief report...the FCC takes it from there.
Together, we can shut these people down and maybe even put them in jail!
