I just got a call from 318 588 7380 about a legal matter from a robo call and to call back on 225-508-3278.  I am so sick of these people.

Same thing. Call about an "important legal matter" with case number.

Got a call from them saying I owned money saying I owed 400 from an online payday loan place from four years ago not sure what to do.

That is easy.  You make them follow Federal and State collection laws.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They called me stating I had a debt from 2007 they asked to confim my middle name and if I was living in FL. Then they said I found your profile they picked the wrong person. We will fix it for you.  It was scary how they found my profile what kind of database they have. Apparently Washington Mutual as he mentioned it on the call.
