This is a scam. They will ask you to run a program on your computer which will give them full access to it in order to "fix" an "identity theft problem". The guy in India who called me was reading from a script and wanted me to Run winipcfg. This tells you your IP address which they then get from you and use it to hack your computer with a malicious virus, which they then charge you to remove ("ransomware"). I played along with this guy for a while, then told him that everyone in the U.S. knows this is a malicious scam and that I had played along long enough to verify that. He hung up on me after informing me that he knew I was playing him - presumably the whole time he talked with me. The only "new" aspect of this scam was the identity theft angle; the rest was right out of Scumball 101.
