I received a call from this phone number. The person at the other end of the line had a foreign accent and said they had received reports that my computer was malfunctioning. The curious thing is, I had recently purchased a new Acer laptop and had been disappointed by the amount of 'crapware' that was pre-loaded on the computer. I was especially upset about all the 'crapware' that kept causing pop-ups to appear warning of viruses, outdated drivers, missing updates, etc on the PC.

I am now concerned that the PC may have determined my cell phone number and transmitted to someplace that is calling me with phony information that there is something wrong with the PC and that I need to hire a tech service or purchase some 'repair' software.

I have received the same call, said he was from PC World and has been mentoring our computer. He claims our computer has a serious virus and I need to go to a URL address to download a 'fix'. The first few calls I laughed at him and said he as full of [***]. After running virus scans we find nothing wrong. ( we have a very intense up to date program that stops any virus before it can be activated) The next time he called I told him I'm not interested STOP calling us! He called a few days ago and I told him we no longer have a computer...he stuttered and said' you no have computer?" I said stop calling me! I have reported this number to the FCC.

He is fishing for access to your computer. His number traces to overseas, he is not calling from the USA. He has also called some of our friends, who have MACS, so ignore him, block his number and file a report with the FCC as we and our friends have.

DO NOT fall for those people. They are fakes. Look up "fake tech support" on YouTube. They just want your money, and possibly will mess up your computer if you let them try to "help" you fix your computer.

Number called my father. He was upset with the woman because he had just purchased a new laptop and thought she was from Microsoft. Apparently she'd told him that she was viewing his activities on his computer and there was something wrong. She informed him she was about to take over his computer "right now" if he'd just type in her url to grant her access. She had a thick accent and my dad quickly realized she wasn't from a real business. He asked which computer, she responded the one being used. He propositioned her in an Indian accent and she got offended. I was laughing hysterically as he started quoting South Park until she hung up.

I NEVER answer calls out of area that I do not know.  Received this call and ignored, but checked it out on 800 notes.
