Spam text message enquiry about an online ad I placed on gumtree.com.au.
Email address attached was melainewest@sify.com

Hi Eve,
we got emails from this email address, not using a name to subscribe.
We have some Ad's in gumtree as well. We now received a payment via paypal on hold of the transaction, being asked to pay the transport company. The amount for this is incl. in the paypal transaction, but as it is on hold ???? We are currently clarifying that with paypal, but are suspious!

So obviously gumtree.com.au is the platform where this person with the email
melainewest@sify.com
looks for contacting people about Ad's. According to my inquery with paypal this person is sending out F A K E paypal transactions. Paypal calls them a ‘spoof’ email.

Please forward any other suspicious-looking emails to
spoof@paypal.com.au for investigation.
