A man claiming to be from a company collecting donations for "local" police, though the area he was calling from was certainly not local to me. Offered to post me an "i-cop" sticker for free if I gave my info! Did some research and, apparently, this is certainly a scam.....was once a semi-legitimate company collecting for police, but now they take "donations" and pretty much keep the money. Many police stations have claimed that they do NOT support this company and do NOT encourage people to donate anything.
Tell them that you have nothing to donate and you want to be taken off their list....if this doesn't work, tell them that you have a family member who is in the state police and you want to check up with them before you give any details.....they should usually hang up at this point.

No apparent reason for a call from this area code On 10/19/12, even from a cell phone. Probably another telemarketer or scammer.

Received call for my elderly mother from caller claiming to be from the "Illinois Council of Police" asking for her to send her envelope for the "Back the Badge" campaign and her $10.00 donation.
