I have been receiving calls, often multiple times a day for weeks, that has the read out VCF 043 with a phone number 216-714-0076.  The calls are coming to my ATT land line (not cell).  I have called the 216-714-0076 number once each from my home and my cell number.  Each time it says that the 216 number is "changed, disconnected or no longer in service."  I would like to know what VCF 043 refers to.  I'm only making a wild guess that it refers to call forwarding, but if that's true how can a number that has been disconnected or otherwise out of service be forwarding calls to my home number?  My family is currently in the middle (as victims) of telecommunications harassment under a totally different set of circumstances, so I am naturally paranoid anytime I cannot figure out what's coming into my cell or land line.  I have called ATT and they are unhelpful.  They cannot tell me what the code means or what to do other than paying a fee to change my home number.  Due to the harassment case we are in the middle of, I am not able to do that.  Can anyone please help me?

The number is probably being spoofed, which is why you can't call it back.  Are you able to block it - either with a call-blocking device, or with your provider?

That's the problem.  There is no number to block.  The phone number shown in the caller ID is out of service, and is not the originating phone number.  The actual dialing phone number is not revealed.  So, I cannot.  I am trying to find out if anyone knows what VCF 043 means as far as some code.

This raises the issue of call blocking in situations where you don't know the number that is calling.  I get many that say "out of area" but when I select details on my handset, there is no phone number to block.  That's what happens with this VCF situation, too.  Can you advise how to block when you don't know the 10 digits calling?

There might be other posters that could advise you on this.  I know that I have gotten calls from many spoofed numbers.  I called my landline provider and gave them the numbers to enter into my blocked list (I was unable to do this on line), and I have not had any more calls from them.  So, despite the number being spoofed, blocking it as it appeared on my caller ID was effective.  Also, I have heard that there is a fairly new Panasonic phone that blocks up to 250 numbers, and it claims to be able to block calls with "out of area" on the caller ID.  I haven't bought one yet, but plan to.
