I just got a call from these guys...

They called a few days ago, I didn't answer the first call, instead traced it on the Net and found this webpage.

They called a minute ago and the girl, "Jackie" identified herself as "Bank of America". I asked her, is this a fraudulent call? She said, "No, we are Bank of America". I asked her is this a Corporate office at BoA? She said, "No". I asked her is this a marketing call? She said, "No, just a courtesy call". I asked her from where she was calling from and she gave me this data:

You can call us back at: 1-800-823-4538

I told her, do not call again! I don't know who you are, we do not do business with you!

Be careful with these guys and do not give any information about yourself or anyone they are calling for.

I called back the number from my ID  (216 545 8326) and after a pre-recorded announcement, got a very courteous representative from Card Services.  I asked to be put on their "do not call" list.  The rep. asked me for my name, phone number that I was calling from and address (I didn't give him my last name or address, only my zip code and phone number, which they could easily have obtained anyway).  I was told it would take up to 30 days to take effect (and it could because of other marketers using the same list).  There did not seem to be any problem.  Perhaps the other postings with the obviously obnoxious callers resulted from mis-dialed numbers or forgetting to add the 1 before the area code. (many caller ID's don't put the 1 in front when you recall the number, resulting in an incorrect recall)

Called when we were at work, left no message.  We never answer calls from numbers we don't recognize.  If the same number keeps calling, we pick up the phone and immediately hang up.  It doesn't take long for them to quit calling.

no leia, B of A does nto make courtesy calls unless you have given them permission to!

I keep getting a call from 216-545-8326 but no one answers when I answer the call.  I assume it is a scam but would like to have the caller fined for abusing the federal "do not call" law.
