This # belongs to United Reader Magazines. This is a telemarketing compamy that sells magazine subscriptions. When they call u their script makes it look like ur going to receive discounted subscriptions rates for several magazines. They say something along the lines that u have won a 4 year subscription but u need to buy other subscricptions or something like that. I was taken by their fast talking and all during the initial call however when I got off the phone and did some calculation it turns out that these subscriptions would cost me nearly $700 dollars! Thats right - $$700 dolllars for a 4 yr subscription on I believe it was 6 magazines. CRAZY!!! So I immediatly called them back & cancelled. I continued to receive bills from them, which I returned marked CANCELLED. That did nothing & so I sent 2 or 3 "certified letters" demanding them to stop contacting them me via phone. That did nothing to stop thir harrassing calls. They continued 2 call for probably 6 months. Called 6+ timed daily!!
Whatever u do - do not take their calls or u will be SCAMMED by them!!
Sorry soooo lengthy but obviously I still get ANGRY when I think bout them.

Yes, that is correct, it is from United Readers Service Inc of Lakewood, OH. Yes, they make it sound like a "wonderful deal" - they scammed me into signing up too. The magazine selections are lame; and I don't even have time to read them.

I'm receiving a monthly bill of $47.40 (yes, that is $568.80). How ridiculous! They are really smooth when they initially call you, telling you what a great deal you are getting, and how much money you will save. But once you say sure, yes, saving money sounds good, you are in for it. Then, when you realize what a scam it all is, and you try to cancel, they send you threatening and guilt ridden letters, and start harrassing you via phone. (I have at times received calls from them 6+ times a day. That is no exageration, and they will call late into the evening. They are rude, demanding, and will not let you cancel. I am trying to figure out the best way to get this harrassment to stop, and if I never see another magazine as long as I live, I will be so happy.

I cannot say enough to warn you against giving this company ANY of your personal information. I have cancelled the bank/credit card that I gave them intitally (wow, was that stupid of me!), so now all they can do is harrass me via the phone and mail. I am so disgusted. This is like trying to break it off with a serial stalker.

Just wanted to clarify something in my last post. I am receiving monthly bills of $47.40, which is equal to $568.80 for a year. I believe they have me signed up for 2 years of magazines, which would equal a total of $1137.60. That is not a good deal on ANY PLANET. I refuse to make any more payements, and have written them twice telling them I no longer which to receive magazines from them. Good luck to us all in getting out of this company's scams.

I am getting calls from this United Reader Magazines which also calls from other numbers and under several different Magazine Telemarketing names. This is a telemarketing compamy that sells magazine subscriptions. When they call you the script makes it seem that you will receive discounted magazine subscriptions. I was suckered in by their free six magazines and all I had to do was pick one to pay for. When I got the first bill for %900, I called to cancel and was told that I had 10 days to cancel and I had passed the deadline. I have taken no calls since and I will not pay a penny for any magazines. I continued to receive bills from them, which I returned marked CANCELLED. It has been three months and I am daily harrassed with phone calls. I received a letter for a discounted amount of $278.00 but I am not paying a dime. I can ignore phone calls and letters. Eventually they will stop because I will not send any money.
Whatever you do, don't fall victim to this magazine scam. If it sounds too good to be true, hang up. It's a scam.

UGH! I received a call from them immediately following surgery. I was still so loopy from the procedure I fell for their scam ... $47/month for 2 years. By the time I realized what had happened, I too was too late to cancel. Over $1000 for magazines I NEVER looked at that cluttered my house and filled up my mail box. NEVER AGAIN!!
If you call them back and ask to be removed from their list, they are very polite. However, it takes 30 days for you name to be removed.
