Academy Services Collection Agency I recently received several threatening phone calls which never identified who was calling or what they wanted but left a number to call back. Finally I got angry at this harassment and called back and was treated incredibly rudely by the person who answered the extension I was asked to call.
She even used some very unprofessional language to describe me and hung up on me when I would not tell her my information because she would not tell me who she was, who she worked for or why she was calling. I immediately called back and asked to speak to the company manager and was asked if it was a complaint. I said yes. I was transferred to their "Complaint Manager" who might have taken my complaint but never even apologized or made excuses or said that is not our policy!
I was finally able to find out what the original threatening calls were about and they were saying I had charged on a credit card I don't even own from an address I have never lived at . . . when I explained that, they told me to call the original creditor and call them back immediately. No niceties, no attempt at assistance. Today I will notify the original creditor of this highly unprofessional and unacceptable behavior and will also check with my state's Attorney General to find out if this is even a legitimate collection agency, as well as to find out what has happened as regards the creditor saying I owe money I didn't charge.
BUT -- please encourage all that you know not to put up with such treatment. Be wary and careful of scams, etc., and do not give personal information before knowing to whom you are speaking. Good luck.
