received a call missed but they did not leave a message.  California has the law that telemarketers can not leave messages on any voice mail irregardless if you are on the Ca State do not call list.

I forwarded this number to my comcast phone provider online.

Recieved the call on 8/27/2008 at 9:04pm. I do not answer calls that we do not know whom they are.

Called number back and they put us on no call list so it must be some sort of sales call.

Received seven calls over four days mostly in the evening, but also around mid-day. No idea who they are or what they want. Calling back gets you an anonymous recorded message to get off their call list. There is no mention of who they are.

Ok, I finally was able to pick up one of their calls. It was the local paper, except I don't live anywhere near Philadelphia. Most likely it was some centralized billing office or a even a collections agency for the local paper located out of state. They were calling to discuss some past due charges for a paper that I canceled four times, but continued to keep getting.

I just got a call from this number and it was the San Jose Mercury News asking me why I cancelled my subscription and trying to offer me a better deal to keep the paper.

Weird thing is, that 215 area code is not anywhere here in the Bay Area.  I googled it and it comes up as Philly.  Why is someone in PA calling me about continuing my newspaper subscription in San Jose, CA?
