TXU telemarketers.
May have gotten my number from Champion Elecrtric, after I signed up for Champion for my new home purchase.
Champion charges HALF of what TXU charges, and TXU is famous for excess charges, late fees, charging after-hour turn-up fees to people that order service at 8am, various other kinds of over charges, and failing to ever correct an overcharge. When I signed up for TXU, it was a great rate, but a dubious customer service record... so I made sure I was always overpaid, so I would never get the kind of service they dish out to people that pay late... I picked a great rate on-line, and signed up for service to be turned on at my new house (in 2009). However I noticed that when I got my first bill, I had a DIFFERENT account number, and was signed up for a plan that was more expensive. They claimed that was the plan I picked, despite me having a print-out from the web page from when I signed up. It was only 2 cents/kwh difference, so I let it ride... But now it is 6 cents more... and fuel prices are lower, half of what they were in 2009. So I didn't sign up for TXU at the new place I just bought. And within 1 business day of me signing up with Champion I'm getting sales calls from TXU. Champion's rate is half of what I was paying TXU. I always paid TXU in advance, and always carried an overpaid balance of about 1 or 2 month's bill. But for that they slowly jack up my rate till it's the highest in the state. Then they wonder why I signed up with someone else...
