Larry Porter has called multiple times (so far) asking for a name we don't recognize. He says he's an attorney for "Roquemore & Roquemore" out of Dallas, Texas. All of his calls are on our voicemail, we never answer our home line. He says over and over: "I want to be very clear with you. I am not a debt collector. This is not related to a debt collection. I am an attorney representing a very grave legal matter. I need you to call me today. I'm about to get your attention, and the sooner you contact me voluntarily to give your side of this story the better things could go for you." The number he gives to call is 866-317-9104.
The first time I almost called. I believed he was an attorney and that he just had the wrong number. It was the 866 that made me just a bit suspicious, so I typed the number in Google just to be sure. Thank goodness. I never called but he kept at it, so I decided to make this report. Now I'm the one who's about to be very clear.
There are no law firms by that name in Dallas. There is a Roquemore & Roquemore in Dallas, Texas, but they are "Collateral Location Experts." http://www.roquemore.com/index.htm. The name "Larry Porter" is not on the website. Nor is 866-317-9104.
Any Larry Porter who calls you with the number 866-317-9104 is scamming you. He has no legal power or any power whatsoever. He's using fear to convince you to start doing things, with the hopes those things will give him more data about you. These things include: contacting him at any number associated with his call, contacting Roquemore & Roquemore, and even making a report about him on the internet with your personal information attached to it.
Case in point: The only association between his name and Roquemore & Roquemore are on scam reporting sites like this one. One of those scam reporting sites, "Phonenotes.org," has people complaining about this scam, and one of the scammers logs in and threatens one of complainants. The scammer says the person better call them back and pay what they owe or "someone else will call you." http://phonenotes.org/exchange/214550
Classy.
So this group not only pretends to be lawyers and insurance inspectors, they also browse phone scam reporting sites and read what we report about them. Be careful what you post on here. Give the facts about them, but do not say anything about you. And no matter what you hear on your phone or read on one of these these sites.... Do not contact them. For any reason. Ever.
Hi Larry. Happy New Years!
