This caller appeared as a Restricted number on my ID. Instantly I knew something was weird since I NEVER received restricted calls the whole time I've had a phone. (that's been years) I didn't answer because I was at work and they left a message. When I went on brake I checked the message and this is what it said.
"We're looking for :insert name: on account that you have commited bank fraud and legal court action is required. To stop this, please call us immediately. You have until the end of business hours today to call."
Strange. Never once did I receive a letter stating I was in trouble in the mail. Since this is a "legal" matter, the court/law office in charge of the case would've sent a letter stating I had to take care of it. On a more suspicious note, not once did they state their business hours. So how would I know when was the last chance I had to call? And to make things even more fishy, not once during their long message did they state the name of the actual law firm. Any legitimate company would state their name at the very beginning. Also, why only give someone a few hours to call when you could've given them a week? Doesn't that seem odd to you? Especially when you received no earlier request.
Now here's the last thing that tipped me off that this is probably some form of phishing scam. At the start of the message I picked up a strange voice. It was faint but you could hear them speak. Listening to the message several times I heard it was actually a very sloppy loop of the recorded message. Like even the message was broken and didn't know what to say. There was a pause and then it continued to the real thing.
If this is "real" then I plenty of evidence of having no prior record of such a case. Because I never received anything. It probably isn't and is most likely a poorly done phishing scam. I'm going to ignore this until a Real letter arrives at my mailbox.
Do not fall for this!
