FTC vs. Vandelier
Date of Action: 7/7/2015
On Sept 17, 2014, the Federal Trade Commission filed suit against Vandelier Group and several related companies. Charges filed allege the business violated the FTC Act, the Truth in Lending Act and the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. The lawsuit alleges that Vandelier Group and companies owned or operated by Timothy Coppinger and Ted Rowland III made unauthorized deposits into consumer bank accounts and then withdrew bi-weekly recurring finance charges of up to $90 without any of the payments going toward reducing the loan's principal.
On July 7, 2015, the Federal Trade Commission entered final orders that impose consumer redress judgments of $32 million against Coppinger and his companies and $22 million against Rowland and his companies.
