I got a message left from this number today:
"Hello Robert, this is Omar. I'm calling on behalf of Technology Credit Union regarding some materials being mailed to you which describe the proposed charter change to a mutual savings bank. You'll be receiving three sets of these disclosure materials, approximately one every 30 days beginning mid-June. The final packet will include your ballot to vote on the charter change. Your board of directors unanimously recommend that you support this change so please read and review the disclosure materials. Should you have any questions, please call 800-553-0880. Thanks for your support. Good day."
The 800 number is Technology Credit Union's member contact center. What's strange is that the call is coming from New York City, which is nowhere near California-based TechCU
I'm very suspicious of this charter change, which seems to have no benefit for individual members of the credit union like myself. The fact that TechCU has apparently hired a New York City company to help them with this change makes me more suspicious that this change is motivated by someone else's self-interest.
