Telemarketing scams are on the rise.
It's a robo call scam operation. They use spoof numbers and bogus operations to scam people out of money. You can use trace services to track the number but the service may cost you.
The best thing to do is to report the caller to appropriate authorities and to warn others. If they have called you, sadly enough, they will continue to call using fake number from across the nation and fake scams. They mostly want to target the elderly since they are the must gullible. Hence why some get a hangup at the sound of your voice.
Never give out personal or financial information over the phone. You wont win anything, there is no poll, your taxes are fine, there is no marketing research, there is free anything. There is no charity. It's all a scam coming from desperate criminals. Trust only those who can validate themselves and only contribute information and money to people you feel comfortable with. Not random callers.
