The offers described, "Lower your credit Card Interest Rate," "You've won a free cruise," etc., are scams. It matters little if you register on the Do Not Call List (unfortunately). If you wish these calls to stop, assist the FCC by registering a complaint at www.fcc.gov and click on "complaints." Provide that office with as many details as you can in order to enable them to investigate and, hopefully, locate the scammers, and fine them. Alternatively, there are a number of "Call Blockers" available through a Google search. On the recommendation of a colleague, I purchased a DigitOne call blocker. Not only does it suppress unwanted calls that you enter into its' memory, it blocks those numbers so you are not even bothered by a "first ring." The feature I like best is that you can block an entire Area Code!! I said "Goodbye" to calls from Irvine, California after being pestered by repeated calls (several had different telephone exchanges within the Irvine Area Code) to lower my interest rate on credit cards.
