Called stating that I won a I.R.S. Government Grant.  I had been online inquiring about government grants for a small business that I just started.  There were several sweepstakes that I entered to win a small grant.  I received a call from this number stating that I won $5,000.00 and that it would be wired into my account.  They stated that the name of the business was United States Government of Grants Dept. I first spoke with Enrique, badge #KL1005.  I was given a confirmation I.D. #6952569 to confirm with my bank.  Of course when I check with my bank there are no funds available.  I also donated $50.00 by way of Western Union to a Satpal Malik in Goa, India as instructed.  These funds were suppose to be donated too help the poor.  I was also told that they would be deducting from my bank account a one time processing fee of $29.95 two days after the winning funds were wired into my account.

I can't imagine any American following for this scam. One doesn't have to be a certified public accountant to realize that the "S" in IRS doesn't stand for sweepstakes. :)

You are absolutely correct, however like I said because I had been online inquiring about government grants and had entered several contests, I honestly thought that I had asked the right questions to avoid something of this nature happening to me.  I guess that old saying is correct "You can't get something for nothing!"  Believe me when I tell you that you don't have to be American to fall for something.  What does being an American have to do with it anyway?  I consider myself a human being first!  A human being with hope and I got took.  I am not angry about it and I take this as a lessoned learned.  Take care!
