This number is fishing for info. DO NOT give them any info. They contacted me from CL this morning wanting to pay for a high-end item costing thousands site unseen. They want to pay via pay pal or cashiers check.
They are "out of town" and "can't talk on the phone" ~ this is always he case. The number is always either an extension or texting only number. I get A LOT of calls from this area code.
These people will say they will send a regular bank check (safer than a cashiers check because it won't come bank after 3-6 days, unlike cashiers checks that can fool banks at first). They will never send a bank check, they only want all your info. They try to get pieces of it to use for criminal purposes.
AVOID calls from this area code.
TIPS: never give info to any stranger. If in doubt, don't deal with them. If you call back someone that texts and it's a text of only number or an extension , they are not legit. If they can't talk on the phone, don't deal with them. If they want to send you a cashiers check, ask for a regular bank check from a bank near you or a post office money order ( they can get them at any post office in US and you can cash it at any PO in US). But never do this unless you talk to them on the phone and feel certain they are legit. You can always get their address and send them a letter to make sure they are in US and are giving you legit address) you can always post item on EBay and they can pay you there. eBay protects your info and your paypal info. Criminals won't be interested in doing this.
