The caller ID comes up as a local number in Portland, ME. It sounds like a real person but it's actually a recording that responds depending on what you say. I hung up, there's no way I'm supporting an organization that uses the creepy Uncanny Valley robocalls and spoofs local phone numbers, even if it is to send care packages to veterans returning home it sounds like a scam.

This number just called us as 9 p.m. on a Sunday night!!!!  Seriously???  My husband has a 5 a.m. flight to catch in the morning for work and the call woke him up.  When I answered, the guy said he was calling from the "Veteran's Support Foundation" and that "the call may me monitored."  He started to say something else, but I immediately cut him off and told him what time it was and said NOT to call us again.  He then said, "Oh, sorry.  We'll call another time."  I then said, "Didn't I just say NOT to call this number again???"  He hung up at that point.  I very highly doubt that this is a legit organization calling at this hour of night, and I highly doubt they are really in Maine (which is where we live and it came up as a Maine number on the caller ID).  They are probably just using fake numbers to match the area code of the people they are calling so more people will answer their calls.  Jerks.

Received a call from this number today at 11:49 am. They left no message. They called again tonight at 8:29, on a Sunday. Against my better judgement I answered with an irritated "hello." They said hello back and then I asked them to please stop calling me. They hung up. Thank you all for your input, obviously they are are repetitive scammers. They are now blocked.

Got a call from this number the other day and no message was left.  Came up on Caller ID as follows:
