dont know what these people want..

these people say that i have to respond regarding a serious legal matter, wtf

I have never done any business with these people and when I called them back 3 times to find out why they were threatening me...They never responded!

Not only have I received calls from this number, but they somehow managed to find the names and phone numbers of relatives and contacted them as well, leaving the following message (they do not advise who they are calling for nor who they are):

"This message is a third and final attempt to verify that someone is going to be available to accept service of legal documentation. Failure to respond to this notice will result in forfeiture of all legal rights afforded to you.
Press "1" now for more information or contact us direct at (207) 385-9437".

these people are hilarious.... they advised me I would be 'served' at work 'tmrw' and they wanted me to make sure I had my id with me and my supervisor should be there as well... lol - (obviously they didn't come to my job)  so the next time they called I talked to some gal that said they would be coming to my job, blah blah blah, I said, yeah, I will be here all day, so what time do you think you'll be here so we can get this straightened out?   she hung up -  
this was over 1.5 yrs ago, now they are calling me again.... dorks.

I believe they are trying to collect on an online payday loan that I got in 2006.... which HAS been paid.
they must have purchased some old debts for pennies on the dollar, so any money they can get is 'butter'....
check your states statute of limitations on collecting old debts....
