This call came in under AT&T's hearing impaired line, so an operator was made to verbal tell me what this person was typing.  They wanted food for 300 for an event in March - I got their email so I could communicate with them and get more details.

After receiving my menus, I got an email back with what menu they wanted to order.  After I sent over a proposal, this person "Wraskey Hallen", emails me back - never using the phone again - and tells me to charge the entire amount and add in $1850 for the "Shipper" - who was the handler for this order.  RED FLAG   So now he wants to give me a credit card, charge about $6800 on it and then go to the nearest Western Union and send the "Shipper" a wire for $1950.00.

So here it is - a twist on an old scam - this is also done with apartments that sound too good to be true and the current tenants are in Bolivia working with the Red Cross, blah, blah, blah.

So the moral of this story is beware of something that sounds at first really good, but then turns ugly.

They just keep calling me and I tell them that they are trying to scam people and do not call back.  The telephone company is no help either in stopping these calls, over all I have received about 10 calls.

This "guy", Dan Nakata, is still at it.  I manage a restaurant in Louisville, KY, and just within the last three months I have gotten at least 4 faxes regarding catering, and at least 3 AT&T operator assisted phone calls for the same.  I can't believe ANYONE would be dumb enough to fall for either of these scams, but I often overestimate the general intelligence of the American public (if anyone actually takes the time to read what we're being sent, it is immediately all too obvious that it's a scam, and a poorly written one at that!).  I too am tired of these SOBs that waste our time, energy, and materials with no consequence.  These people take advantage of the hearing impaired service, and tie up the system for those that really need it.  I am posting the email link I was sent today below...in my free computer time, I plan on sending F-U emails to the address they sent with the hope of at least being annoying, since it appears that no punishment will likely ever happen.  Follow suit if these scammers irritate enough to care.
