I received same type of call that I had been chosen for a grant.  I was told to call back 206-973-7328.  The person who called said they were from the US Treasury Dept, but their english was so bad I could not hardly understand her.  She gave me a verification ID and told me to call back this number immediately and they would wire me the grant.  When I called I was told that I needed to pay a one time processing fee and wire transfer fee of $250.00.  I told them I was not interested and to please take my phone number off of their list

It IS a scam.
Since your father fell for that scam, he might be prone to fall for another.

I received a call from 'unknown' telling me the same thing - I had been selected for a $8400 grant to use for a good purpose.  The number they gave me to call was 206-973-7328 and I would be speaking with Oscar.  I did not call the 206# because it is most likely one of those calls that costs a fortune, but just wanted to hear all they had to say.  I so hate that especially that senior citizens are believing this to be true.  They should be stopped, but how??

What disturbed me is that the woman who insisted that she was calling from the "United States of AMERICA" but as stated above ~ she found English challenging ~ knew the names of the members living in my home. The only thing I could think of was that they went onto the Healthcare website and got that info. Oscar has changed his name to Oscar Waldon but has the same phone number
