I am a lawyer and received a call from a personal injury client. He said that he had received a robo call from these people stating he owed for an old debt. The debt they were referencing just happened to be related to the matter we are representing him for. Thus, we know the debt was dealt with three years ago. I tried contacting these scammers, and the first time a person answered "legal department." When I started to ask which credit company they represent, they hung up on me. I then called right back and the person answered "mediations." I then said "I am calling from a law firm, can you please tell me what credit company you represent?" I was immediately hung up on again. This is definitely a scam. I deal with credit companies all the time, and one thing they don't do, is automatically hang up when asked to identify themselves. The best thing that anyone can do is to turn them in. If they continue to call, let them know you have already turned them in. I'm guessing they will immediately go away... just as quickly as they hung up on me.
