I'm in Indiana. Just got the same call as Not Born Yesterday. I'm not either. There are several of these threatening frightening scams going around. DO NOT RESPOND. It confirms your phone number is genuine. Not that it will help them, but I think they sell lists between themselves of real numbers. At least once per week we get a call alleging to be Windows Tech. I played along once to confirm my suspicion. Wanted to "fix" my computer from remote site. Yeah, I'm going to let a stranger access to my computer. When you get frightening calls, take a breath, and remember Windows is made by MS and if you've got a computer problem, you will get a letter from MS. Ditto this IRS scam. If any of us had an IRS problem, we would gat mammoth legal paperwork, not a recorded call. Mine was recorded. The worse the job market is the more criminals will get creative to steal money. This reminds me of mobs during the a Depression. Sort of. But, I don't believe these creeps can hurt us unless we give them info. Some people must be or these creeps wouldn't be proliferating. The Windows scam is at least a year old and they all have foreign accents, too. This is my 2nd IRS scam call. Just ignore them. If I'd had a person, I would have played along to find out how/what their plan was to steal everything I own.
