Got a call, too. It really upset me. Like you said, they said they were from either Estate Collection Companay or The State Collection Company. At first I thought maybe it had something to do with my student loans, so I called back. Said I was being sued for fraud, said they couldn't give me the phone number of the company they were suing for, because it would be defamation of character?!? What the heck? I couldn't understand half of what they were saying, and they kept calling me mister (I'm a girl). I tried contacting the company mentioned by them and all my emails come by as undeliverable and there's no phone number or address on the website. I was upset about this all day, thinking I really did forget to pay off a loan or something. Thanks for your posts, they were helpful. If they are a real collection agency, they could be in big trouble for claiming to be someone they are not. They only claimed to be a legal firm when I called them back, but the person who ansered the phone only ansered "hello", and did not give a business greeting. Weird.
