I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.  IRS has enough administrative authority under the IRS Code and related regulations to collect all taxes lawfully due the federal government.     Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest as related to ordinary tax disputes.  Having a deficiency in taxes owed by way of audit is NOT a crime.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

I got a phone call from Eric foster at 4:48Pm on Friday. Call them back and spoke to supervisor Danny Williams about my taxes. And I know if you owe the ÌRS. They would send you documentation of what you owe. Told me don't tell the no one and if I do a warrant for my arrest I was wondering why he didn't call back during morning hours and left me a message. When I go to CVS to make the payment he told me don't put officer in front of Leo DE Paz and make out the money for 1250. I kept him talking tell the point he started to say make sure I have a straight face and say I'm helping  a friend when I making the payment. They also gave up different dates of when they sent the letters from the is to my home and they said I didn't respond and they also had a foreign  accent

I just got the same message and they just about gave me a heart attack. When I called back, it rang and no one picked up so it eventually disconnected. Thank god I thought to google the number. That scared me for a second.

I got a call from 206-538-5489. The caller stated that they were an "Officer Eric Foster" and that they were with the IRS. An arrest warrant would be issued if the call was not returned. First off "206" is a Washington State area code; specifically Seattle. And the caller had an accent (which sounded Spanish or Middle Eastern) which tells me that their real surname is not Foster; since it is an English-Anglo surname. And they ended the message with "God Bless". If it was an official call in which you are being accused of something wrong, they would not be courteous and say God Bless. It is funny how they are trying to seem official by calling from "Washington" little do they know, America has two Washingtons; Washington State and Washington D.C. (where the IRS is located) and the Washington D.C. area code is "202" not "206". If you get a call from  this Foster person with the area code of 206 stating that they are from the IRS, do not answer it. And it would behoove you to notify your local police department of this number/call.
