just got a call from a guy "Frank", asking to talk to Ms____ (my name), saying that my Windows 7 operating system has been hacked and he needed to "fix" it...Very noisy in the background....Smelling a rat I told him nobody by that name lived here...Wanted to know my name and if my computer was "on"  Told him NO.....Told him I had a bad connection and I would call him.
Gave me a phone# 40-1-866-999-1487 from Salt Lake City....Called back and can't connect with this number...My caller ID shown 1-206-397-1126

Be careful out there..................

They identified themselves as Windows Live Support and supposedly wanted to "fix" supposed errors on my computer... certainly sounds like a scam.

Repeated calls from this number over the last week.  Caller ID says "Trikon".  I only answered the first time and the person on the other end told me I had trouble with my computer.  He asked me if my computer was on and I told him I wasn't having trouble. He tried one more time and then I asked where he learned about my computer problem and where he got my number.  He hung up.

It's a scam saying your computer is going to be hacked.

I asked to be removed from the call list and the guy said he would only do it if I gave him a kiss. I hung up.

I called the number back and an automated recording came on. It gave me the option to be removed from the list by pressing 1. I hope it works.

Just had a call from this number, claiming to be "Windows Support" and they have had some problems reported from my computer for the past couple of weeks, they wanted me to switch it on so they could take a look.

I asked them to confirm the operating system I was using and they said "Windows", so when I said that's funny cos I thought I was using an Apple Mac they hung up sharpish.

Very dodgy practice - these people will deploy malware to your PC then try to charge you to 'fix' the non-existent problems that they 'discover'.

I threatened to call the police if they call my number again, but the woman had already rung off by then...
