Received the same type of call today.  So did my neighbor and HE is an actual IRS agent.  These scammers must take us for fools- told me that Homeland Security was sending a group of special agents with an arrest warrant and that they would be arriving within an hour of the call.  Also told me the local police were responding as we were speaking and would arrive at any moment.  Told me the call was being recorded and that anything I said could and would be used in a court of law once I had been arrested.  I played along knowing all along that this was a scam.  They were so incredibly fake.   Why on earth would the US govt call you first to tell you that you were about to be arrested?  Doesn't anybody NOT understand that its NOT done that way.  They just come and get you!  No advance reservation or notice is necessary.  So the more I just listened the more they got upset with me eventually calling me an unpatriotic criminal and fugitive from justice quoting my charges that were being levied against me because I had violated the US Constitution!  By the way, if you try to call them back you only get a voice mail message- the message says you are calling the office of so and so with the IRS.  I hung up on them and they called back 6 more times kept telling me that the police were only a couple of blocks away and that soon I would be subdued at gun point and possibly hurt if I resisted.  I told them to come and get me and thanked them for the advance notice- it gave me time to prepare a pot of tea for everyone that was decending on me.  By the way just to calm myself I went to the real police station and explained the situation and they told me point blank they weren't looking for or coming to get me.... but they DID thank me for the offer for some hot tea.

This 203-422-9507 number called me from CT, USA. It was a Spanish-accented lady claiming she worked for the IRS. She had my name and school address, but not my home address which is where I file my taxes under. She said there was a warrant out for my arrest because I'd filed my taxes improperly or something. Claimed that my car, home, and bank accounts would be seized if I was found guilty. Also said I'd be arrested for 72 hours and if found guilty would have to pay $35,000. Which is hilarious... because I'm a student who has NO property and has never even had a full-time job. She said she was going to end the call and alert the local authorities and that they'd be arrest me. So I called the local police and before I could even finish the sentence, he said, "That's a phishing scam, local police don't take care of IRS stuff." So there you go.

I just received the same phone call that Angie had mentioned.  I usually don't pick up random phone calls so i didn't bother picking it up. Then she left the same message as Angie. She called 3 times in a row. I tried to call her back but her phone was off.So is it a prank call?

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I received a call on my cell phone on 1/20/15 from a lady by the name of Carisa Moss (strong accent) claiming to be from the IRS's fraud/investigative unit.  She was quite aggressive in her stance that I owe the IRS money from past years and that I have failed to contact them in regard to two letter they had mailed me.  I mentioned that I wasn't aware of any charges - having not received anything in the mail.  She asked for my address "which I foolishly provided".  The red flag went off when she said that the State Police have been notified and will be arresting me if this matter isn't resolved promptly.  I never let her reveal how she wanted this matter resolved (i.e. provide a cc number, etc.).  When I asked her for her address, she provided: 131 West Street, Danbury CT "IRS hq".  After a few minutes she became a little more aggressive...probably sensing my doubt especially when she asked "how I claimed"?  I asked her to tell me....since the IRS has all the info.  She failed to provide the info.  From there, I continued to be professional with a touch of skepticism.  I told her I would contact the Dallas IRS office.  She then threatened to call the State Police again and have me arrested.  I asked her for the Dallas IRS info and she said "I don't have that."  I then hung up.
