I had a similar call on my home number. When I asked for the name of the company I was told the Vehicle Processing Department, which of course does not exist. They also knew what cars I owned and when I asked how they obtained my number and such detailed information the caller/telemarketer told me it was given to him by his computer. I then asked to speak to his supervisor since my family and phone numbers are on a no-call list, and that they were potentially breaking the law. I was put on hold and amazingly a "supervisor" was on the line. Clearly he was a different person but had a similar accent (ie non-native). When I pursued the question he finally said that he would strike my name off the list and promptly disconnected the call.
What I find disturbing about this is that they used this number which was detected by my phone as coming from the neighboring town in Connecticut, and with children in school I generally pick up local calls.
The number is maintained by Level 3 Communications according to information on the internet. I believe this has nothing to do with the car company I use as other manufacturers are mentioned on other message boards. It would be nice to prosecute them one way or another.
