I got a call from this number on Thursday the 17/03/2016 at 1:34 UK time. I, Zainab picked up the phone. I was home alone. So straight away she called me by my full name. ?. First it was a woman who spoke. She had an Indian accent. Definitely British Indian sounding lady. She knew details about me such as my name, address, email, date of birth. I live in the UK. She was offering phones like iPhone, Samsung, sonny. She offered 2 months trial on "shopping" thing and 3 months trial on "games and books". For the phones she said they're free for the first month. From the day they're activated. And after that they'll be £26.
She asked for my bank details. I’m stupid so I gave the 16 digit number, the expiry date, the sort code and bank card number (i.e. the 8 digit number.) And then she asked for the security number, the 3 digit number. I was reluctant to give that one in. She said “if I was uncomfortable with giving it I should type it on the phone and then press #”, so I did. I know I’m stupid. But don’t worry, I have nothing in my account. I’m 18 and a student. I get the money in cash from my parents. And I will let my bank know about this. She asked if I was working. If I was permitted to live here, UK indefinitely, if I had a permit to work. Etc.
Anyhow, I was referred to a man. Again, he sounded Indian. Asked more questions. Verified stuff.
I managed to record the last 3 minutes of the conversation.
The last line was I’ll call you back and that the line, phone line is not good.
Bear in mind, they talked to me in-between 1.34 and 2.15.
Background noise was loud. It did not seem like a working place. Or an office. It felt like a “family.” Their accents were quite heavy so I did not catch most of what they were saying, nor did I catch their names, unfortunately.
