Same here. Called, asked for someone by name. When I asked them to identify themselves, they continued to ask for the person. I told them to wait, and put them on hold.

Got a call today from a computer voice looking for "employee firstname lastname" that is not an employee, and a deceased person. Hung up and requested blocking from our provider.

A guy called from this number, asked for my name, I replied "speaking, and he hung up.

why would someone do it?

are they located in the district of Columbia? or it doesn't mean anything

Caller with strong East Indian accent asks "May I speak to (John Doe)" and when I answer "speaking" he hangs up.

I work at a University and our sweet switchboard lady has been getting calls from this number among others and it's been happening for at least 2 weeks. They have asked for people who are gone, never here, but also people who do work here. We transferred a couple calls to a coworker who pretended to be who they were looking for and as soon as he said "yes" they hung up. Then the next call he demanded to talk to their supervisor and even when he was passed on to someone else and demanded to know why they were calling, they would hang up. We've even transferred them to the campus police and yet they still keep calling. They get mad if you hang up on them, so they call back with it displayed as the same number calling 10+ at once and if we answered they would play hold music in return. This group acts like a 2-yr old throwing a tantrum when they don't get what they want. They have at least 10 different numbers that we have associated to them. It's better not to answer at all if you can avoid it.
