A guy left a message stating he was calling from the internal Revenue legal department. They called from a 1800-829-1040 and to call 202-697-9222. I called back and they wanted me to confirm my phone number to pull up my file and then he asked for my last four of SS# which I told him I am not giving out, then I ask him for the internal revenue phone# and he stated this is the number that I called which I told him it is not the internal revenue and then he got rude and then staeted speaking indian (Hindi Language)  I said I don't understand what you are saying in a clam voice and then he replied you know what I am saying and then hung-up...I then called back from another line and the same guy answered and I ask him where is he operating out of and he slip out and said "Pakistan" I then said Internal Revenue does not operate out of the United States and why are they trying to scam people out of their money and then got upset and said I am a "[***]" and hung up. I wanted to share with those of you that may encounter the same issue and I hope this helps...

Yes! I got the same call from the 202-829-1040 number! It was a lady with an indian accent. I told her that I was going to look for the IRS number online myself because I didn't know if this call was legit. I hung up and googled this number and found this!

Same. Total scam.

Received a phone call from this number saying that they were the IRS and that I owed $11,000 because they audited me from 2001 to 2005 and that I defrauded my taxes for those years and they were putting an arrest warrant for my husband and my arrest it was not the IRS it is a fraud.
