Caller said he was from the Federal Trade Commission and asked if I had received mail from publisher's clearing house. I told him no we hadn't. He seemed confused and kept asking me if I was sure. And then said he would have to look into it. I checked other reverse look-up sites and found other posts that this person asks for money to be sent to process your claim.

The gentleman identified himself as Officer William Rowe from the Federal Trade Commission.  Stated that I had sent back a letter and won the 2nd place amount of $485,000 in the form of a cashier's check.  I needed to call The U.S. Sweepstakes no. 585-563-2753 with this claim #58606277, for the claims dept.  To then find out what I needed to do.  I didn't after checking online that this is possible scam.

Well apparently these scumbags have started on cellphones now after no activity reported here since 2012. I had voicemail on my Tracfone (less than 10 people have this number) today leaving msg. for John Watson (not me or anyone I know) from Consumer something, receiving a cash settlement in 2nd place & my information may have been compromised so needed to call this number back & verify information. Man (didn't have foreign accent) name said calling was either Dana, Dennis, Derrick Holden. Could not really make it out & I listened to it 3 times. I have slight hearing problem but needless to say I not calling back. Just pisses me off used up my minutes I paid for to listen to a dang bogus call when thought might be family member calling. I can understand how they call my home phone & have blocked numerous calls but now they moving to cellphones, even my little Tracfone I use for emergencies. Is this stuff ever going to STOP???? Don't think just get worse. Too much info people have access to in our personal lives & we have no control. This world really getting in bad shape.
