I just got voice mail with thick Indian accent. Funny thing is two different individual called claiming to be "Officer Steve Martin" within four minutes of each other reading the exact the script. They are not only fraud but STUPID too.

BTW, this # is a Magic Jack number, which means it can be issued with any area code you want (Washington,DC in this case) and then can be used from anywhere in the world.

Received a message saying his name was Steve Martin from the IRS and that a Federal Case was being taken against someone.  Had a strong Indian accent.

Received a call from this number last Wednesday, July 2 Am. Went through the ordeal without realizing for a minute that it was a fraud until he asked me to add money to Green Dot Card and give the confirmation number to him. When I confronted him why I am not paying IRS directly, if I owe money to IRS, he said it will be considered as bribing a federal officer and so need to pay via Green Dot only.

I told him that my cell phone is dying (it was really running out of battery at that time) and asked him to call me back. I also wanted to do some inquiry as well in the meanwhile. He never called me back. God, I recognized, how close I was from losing a big chunk of money.

Hope there is an end to this menace and the culprits are booked soon.

Whenever anyone with an Indian accent calls you threatening you or offering you something, you can be sure it's a scam of some sort.  Green dot money paks are also a dead giveaway of a scam.
