This was an IRS scam phone call, about 12:30 p.m. 6/12/14.  When I hung up, he immediately called again, and when I didn't answer, he hung up and immediately called on a blocked # phone and left a message.

I also got this IRS scam phone call today. A man with a thick Indian accent left me a voice mail message saying he was from the IRS and I better call him back to resolve some problem or basically face the consequences. Using a blocked phone I called the number and got a voicemail message in the same guy's voice simply saying "This is the IRS, leave a message." no prompts to press 1 for something, 2 for something else etc. I hung up. He somehow tracked my number even though I had blocked it and called me right back! I didn't answer and he hung up. I called the police but they said there is nothing they can do. They suggested I talk to their financial crimes dept and the guy there said there was nothing he could do. I am in Houston, and the phone number is in DC, so he suggested I call DC police.

They are not calling from DC; they are scammer/extortionists calling from India.

I got a message on my answering machine from this number. A person with a foregin  accent introducing himself as Gary Smith left a message addressing me with my full name stating that he is from Federal Tax Department and is calling regarding my affidavit of  ?? (I could not understand). And said if I don't call him back I have to face the legal consequences. I wish our law authorities address these issues more forcefully and put a stop on these types of spam and harrasment when there is actually a landline trackable number that they can investigate it.

Called from irs.  Scam. Ignore this they threaten arrest.
