I got called by the same company.  I talked with them for a while an they gave me an account number. Then I called the number for GE bank and they told me the account was an old account I had.  I asked my wife and she knew what credit card account it was and yes we didn't pay it. So I called the company back and they helped my settle the account for a lot less then I owed.  "DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE PAYING ANYONE ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE!"  This company did work with me and even let me hold off paying for a few months when I didn't have the money.  I also received paperwork from them that said the account is paid in full when I was done.  I don't know if they scammed you!  but they helped my wife and I out.
