Just got a voice message from this number 202-241-2216 stating that there have been complaints against me and I should return their call or suffer the consequences

Received this call and basically went like this, "This is Eric Matthews, from State Investigation Dept, the nature of this call is to make you aware about a situation that they have a loss of complaint against your name and your identity. So before we take any legal actions against your name or your identity please get back to us at 202-241-2216, I repeat it, 202-241-2216, and if you don't return a call then you yourself are responsible for the consequences that you face. Good bye and a great day ahead."

I became suspicious that they couldn't even state the name of who it is they are trying to reach and just referred to "you" and "yourself".

Thank you 800notes, just saved me some frustration.
It would be nice to see that some legal action would befall these scammers.

Got the exact same message.  It must be a recording; hence, no specific name they are addressing.  Friggin' annoying!

Exact same message with a little southern accent, my wife got scared and call me at work , I called this number from work phone,after about 8 ring someone answer  and ask identify your self and what state dept? . He hang up immediately. About 1 hour later, using co-worker's cell phone, never answer from this number.

Nothing but phone scam

I also got call from number 202-241-2216 today, September 15, 2014 @6:30am and called again @8:33am.  He said I owed him Federal tax money.  I was surprise but I asked him to verify my social security number to make sure we discussed w/ the right person.  He said I got your name, address, and phone number.  I insist to asked him read my ss# to verify it.  He put me on hold for about three minutes and got disconnected.  It's frustrated.  I do hope there is a way could stop scam telephone call.
